I've had several. The most haunting one was a re-acurring dream where I was getting married to the girl of my dreams. She's always a vague person, I never remember what she looks like. Shorter than me and of medium weight. I know I find her beautiful.
The wedding is to be in the backyard of my parents house and after the honeymoon we planned on turning the upstairs into an apartment. There are flowers everywhere! My friends and I are making garlands and giggling and so happy! Talking about the next day and the ceremony under the apple trees which would shower us with petals. My dream bride flits in and out of groups of people. Helping out and coming back to me for quick flirtatious kisses.
The day goes by and it becomes night. We go to bed and I wrap my arms around her so tight. I whisper to her.
"We're getting married..." I giggle. She laughs and pets my arm.
"Hey." She says.
"I love you."
"I love you too." I nuzzle her hair. Then she sighs, as if in sadness.
"What is it?" I ask.
"It's too bad."
"We almost made it."
"What?" I ask. She turns to me. I can barely make out her face in the dark.
"I'm sorry." She says, "It's time to wake up. It was only a-"
My alarm goes off.
"...Dream..." I finished. The pillow in my arms was warm and if I closed my eyes in those first few moments of waking I could still feel her arms around me.
... I still believe she's somewhere out there. My dream girl. I'd like to think she dreams of me too. Maybe she's reading this right now. I'd like to think so.
